Your Role

As a Mechanical Designer, you will play a key role in the design and execution of our projects using SolidWorks and Autodesk Inventor. You will work closely with modelers and other multidisciplinary team members to transform concepts into detailed technical drawings and manufacturing-ready documentation.

You will actively contribute to the design of new structures, solve technical challenges, and support projects from concept through production. Your responsibilities will also include preparing material orders, monitoring production progress, ensuring quality standards are met, and participating in client presentations. Your expertise will help maintain our high technical standards while ensuring projects meet specifications, budgets, and timelines.

What You'll Have the Opportunity to Do

  • Concept Development: Develop innovative concepts and design solutions for custom projects.

  • 3D Modeling: Create detailed 3D models of complete projects using SolidWorks to support accurate visualization and efficient execution.

  • Technical Drawings: Produce architectural elevation and plan drawings in Autodesk Inventor in accordance with industry standards.

  • Design Validation: Collaborate with internal departments to validate the feasibility and manufacturability of proposed concepts.

  • Budget Management: Work closely with Project Managers to ensure designs align with established project budgets.

  • Project Coordination: Maintain effective communication with the Engineering team and monitor project progress to ensure compliance with design specifications.

  • Client Support: Assist Project Managers during client presentations by providing technical expertise and addressing questions.

  • Manufacturing Documentation: Prepare accurate fabrication drawings to support production.

  • Design Optimization: Leverage both 2D drafting and 3D modeling tools to optimize drawing production and project efficiency.

  • Material Procurement: Prepare bills of materials and material order lists.

  • Vendor Coordination: Support the Purchasing department by assisting with subcontractor quotation requests.

  • Internal Communication: Present project milestones, technical considerations, and critical execution points to internal teams to ensure effective coordination.

What We're Looking For

  • Education : College diploma (DEC) in Industrial Drafting, Architectural Technology, Building Design, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or a related field with specialized training in mechanical design. A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering is considered a strong asset.

  • Experience  : Relevant experience in mechanical design and drafting, with demonstrated expertise in developing technical drawings and design solutions.

  • Technical Skills : Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes such as metal forming, welding, assembly, woodworking/cabinetmaking, and machining.

  • Ability to accurately read, interpret, and produce detailed technical drawings.

  • Proficiency with SolidWorks and Autodesk Inventor.

  • Creativity and Innovation : Strong creative thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to develop innovative design solutions for custom projects.

  • Planning and Organization : Excellent organizational skills with the ability to plan design activities, manage multiple priorities, and meet project deadlines.
