Your Role
The Purchasing and Logistics Manager is responsible for managing and optimizing the company’s procurement processes. This position plays a key role in acquiring the materials, components, and services required to successfully complete our projects.
The Purchasing and Logistics Manager is responsible for ensuring the quality, cost-effectiveness, and availability of purchased products, while optimizing supplier relationships to meet the company’s production and growth requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Supplier Selection: Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers based on their ability to meet quality, cost, lead time, and reliability requirements.
Supplier Management: Develop and maintain a network of high-performing and reliable suppliers by monitoring their performance in terms of quality, delivery, and service.
Contract Negotiation: Negotiate contract terms and conditions with suppliers, including pricing, payment terms, delivery schedules, and return policies.
Purchasing Management: Place purchase orders based on production requirements and forecasts. Monitor order status, resolve delivery issues, and manage returns of defective or non-conforming products.
Cost Control: Analyze the costs of materials and services and identify cost-reduction opportunities without compromising quality. Develop purchasing strategies to optimize spending.
Quality and Compliance: Ensure that purchased materials and components meet the technical specifications and quality standards required for manufacturing.
Reporting and Documentation: Maintain accurate records of purchasing transactions, contracts, and supplier communications. Prepare regular reports on purchasing activities, cost savings, and market trends.
Transportation and Equipment Coordination: Coordinate and submit requests to reserve the transportation and equipment required to meet project needs. Organize shipments, imports and exports, and optimize transportation costs.
Continuous Improvement: Optimize procurement processes and transportation logistics.
Risk Management: Anticipate potential supply disruptions and implement contingency plans.
Data Analysis (KPIs): Monitor key performance indicators and make data-driven decisions.
Inventory Management: Optimize inventory levels to reduce costs without compromising operations. Ensure the availability of raw materials according to production requirements.
The Ideal Candidate
DEC in Supply Chain Management or a related field. A purchasing management certification (such as CIPS) is an asset.
5 years of significant experience in procurement or supply chain management.
Excellent negotiation and supplier relationship management skills.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously, with strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to react quickly to unexpected situations.
Essential bilingualism (French and English), both written and spoken, to communicate effectively with French- and English-speaking suppliers.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with various departments, including Sales, Design, Project Management, and Production.
Experience using an ERP system for purchasing and inventory management. Knowledge of the Prextra ERP system is a major asset.
Proficiency with the Microsoft Office environment.
