Formation–Transformations
On the Hubert-Aquin Pavilion at UQAM, Formation–Transformations transforms a building wall into an architectural intervention that reveals itself differently depending on the viewer’s perspective and movement.
Imagined by In situ as part of the KM³ public art program, the installation explores depth and movement through visual effects. Its composition alters the perception of the facade from different viewpoints, while a sound component emerges as people approach, featuring excerpts from courses and conferences drawn from UQAM’s archives.
To bring this approach to life, Jack World provided the technical design, fabrication, and installation of the artwork. This intervention translated the artistic concept into a precise structure integrated into the existing facade while preserving the intended visual and sound effects.
Formation–Transformations gives a new presence to this architectural surface by connecting the university setting with the knowledge and stories that inhabit it.
