Manikuakanishtik° Lookout
Located on Quebec’s North Shore, the Daniel-Johnson Dam is one of the province’s most iconic hydroelectric structures. To offer visitors a viewpoint that reflects the significance of this remarkable site, Hydro-Québec commissioned Studio Overall to revitalize an outdoor lookout that had become outdated.
The renewed design transforms this stop along the route into an educational and sustainable destination where visitors can admire the dam while learning about its history and its importance within Quebec’s hydroelectric heritage.
Jack World provided the technical design, fabrication, and installation of the architectural components of the development. Custom-built, the elements were designed to integrate seamlessly into the landscape while withstanding the region’s demanding climate conditions.
Designed as a place for discovery, the lookout invites visitors to slow down, observe, and gain a deeper understanding of this remarkable landmark.
