Shoreline
Imagined by American artist Elizabeth Turk, Shoreline Project brings together 1,000 people carrying illuminated umbrellas featuring patterns inspired by her Seashell X-Ray Mandala series. Through movement and an evolving choreography, they transform the shoreline into a vast mosaic of light.
First presented in 2018 in California, in collaboration with the Laguna Art Museum and the City of Laguna Beach, this performance explores the connection between art and place. The participants become part of a collective composition, creating a living artwork viewed by a large audience.
Jack World contributed to the technical design of the umbrella rods and handles, as well as the fabrication of the components integrating the lighting system. Each piece required the precision needed to support the simultaneous deployment of one thousand umbrellas.
Shoreline Project creates a powerful shared moment where each person contributes to a visually striking collective image.
